3 Ways Custom Closets Increase Space

Do you feel as though your home is too small? Many homeowners use up all of the storage space they have, then feel as though they have to move or drastically cut down on their belongings. There are custom closets and other storage spaces for every room of your home. Are you wondering how custom closets can increase your available space? Check out this list of ways you can gain more space simply by having closet organizers professionally designed and installed.

Overhead Storage

In any storage space, but particularly if you have high ceilings, we can optimize the space over your head to make it easier and more feasible to store items. For example, adding closet shelves allows you to store things like holiday decorations, hats, and shoes that you rarely wear without crowding and smooshing them all together.

For clients with high ceilings, a wardrobe lift lets you store off-season clothing on a rod that you can push up toward the ceiling. These items won’t be in your way, but will be available for your use within seconds.

In addition, wall-mounted closet cabinets, available in a variety of finishes, can provide dust-free storage space for purses, sweaters, or anything else you want to keep in them.

Mid-Level Storage

If you have a walk in closet, a clothing rod holding your separates is probably what you’ll see at eye level. If your clothes are smashed together, putting in a second rod about three feet below the first can literally double your hanging space. We can do this for just part of your closet if you have dresses or other longer items that need to be hung as well.

Also at this level are different types of closet accessories. These include jewelry trays, tie racks, belt racks and even a cabinet for `a fireproof safe. We can put hooks on the walls for scarves, purses and other items that don’t go on hangers. We can even install a closet island with a worktop; charge up your electronics here, take advantage of the cabinets and drawers, or even make your coffee right there so it’s ready for you when you get out of the shower.

Speaking of drawers, many of our custom closets come with drawers to hold your hosiery, undergarments, jeans, t-shirts or anything else you’d like to store in them.

Storage Way Down Low

The floor of your closet is prime real estate when it comes to storage. Most of it should be kept clear so you don’t trip, but a shoe rack will keep your footwear organized and safe from being stepped on. You can also have a fold-out hamper or a slide-out mirror resting on the floor. These items come out when you need them, but stow away easily when you don’t.
