What Every Married Man Needs

It’s getting to be that time of year when people start considering holiday gifts for others, and each of us has that guy in our lives who doesn’t need anything. Au contraire! Particularly if he is a newlywed, or even if he’s been married for a while, there are several things that every man who lives with a woman needs. While these aren't gifts that you would get for a casual acquaintance or even a cousin or friend, you might consider these for your husband or partner.

A Man Cave

Man caves have gotten more popular over the years. While women have living rooms and dining rooms and kitchens and, truth be told, master bedrooms to decorate and feather to their hearts’ content, men are often informed that their decorating preferences are simply not going to be taken into consideration. Does your guy want to hang speakers on the living room wall? How about a deer head over the fireplace? Has he ever suggested keeping a dorm fridge in the living room under an end table in order to make getting refreshments during the big game easier? If so, then he needs a man cave. Transform an extra bedroom, the basement, part of the garage or even the attic into a place where he can relax with some friends and make it look as tacky as he wants, with no input from you. This type of project doesn't even take very much money; many men don’t mind man caves that are reminiscent of their college days, complete with hand-me-down furniture. As long as you can swing a big-screen TV (Black Friday sales, maybe?), he’ll be thrilled!

A Murphy Bed

A Murphy bed is one of those beds that unfolds out of what looks like a giant armoire. Because they store up and out of the way, it makes them perfect for overnight visitors in homes that don’t have a dedicated guest room. You can turn your office or even a child’s playroom into an impromptu guest room for visitors. Why might your man want one? If you’re a newlywed with stars in your eyes, you might not have had this experience yet, but sooner or later, you’re going to have a disagreement that will extend into the late evening hours. When bedtime comes, the husband is often banished from the master bedroom and has to be content with sleeping on the couch, which might not be very comfortable. A Murphy bed not only gives his mother somewhere to sleep when she’s visiting, but it also provides him with a comfortable landing spot when his wife is being less-than-agreeable.

A Custom Closet

More than anything, your guy wants to keep you happy. And if having 20 pairs of black pumps and 16 gray skirts of different lengths is what makes you happy, then although he might grind his teeth over it, he doesn't really mind. What he does mind, though, is clutter. If he can’t get to his own modest collection of shirts or ties, then that’s a problem. Custom closets will help you find a place for all of your stuff and will also let him find what he needs.
These home improvement projects will all benefit your guy, and any of them would make a great holiday gift. Talk to your custom closet professional, who can help you to organize any or all of these projects for the special guy in your life.
